Born in 1988 in Dhaka, Faisal Md. Mahfuz is a Bangladeshi ceramic designer, artist, pottery trainer, and social entrepreneur whose practice brings together industrial ceramic innovation, contemporary design, and community-based creative engagement. With more than a decade in the ceramic industry, he currently serves as Assistant General Manager, Design & Product Development at Meghna Ceramic Industries Ltd. (Fresh Ceramic), leading the design and development of ceramic tiles, sanitaryware, and tableware. He spent seven years before that at AKIJ Ceramics Ltd., helping launch several of its ceramic brands.
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the University of Dhaka and a Master of Fine Arts in Design & Ceramics from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, India, alongside specialised training in Bangladesh, China, Italy, and Spain in digital ceramic printing, glaze technology, and production technique.
Alongside his industrial practice, Faisal is the founder of Klay Art Studio, an independent creative platform that promotes ceramics through education, artistic collaboration, and social engagement — pottery wheel sessions, hand-building workshops, and school and community programs that make clay accessible to people of all ages, including children and individuals with special needs.
